Songwriter Peter Mayer writes — “So, the challenging thing becomes, not to look for miracles, but finding where there isn’t one.”
You may be thinking that’s an overstatement. A lot of people consider miracles as things that happened in Biblical times. Because we don’t make an effort to go through the world around us. And, for some reason, when given an option we look at life in a poor rather than positive light.
All of us undergo challenging times. When we didn’t, there wouldn’t be much indicate life. In the event that you seize the moment, the greatest lessons come out from the biggest challenges. My response to hard times would be to always give gratitude for what I’ve, where the choice would be to complain about what I don’t have. In a truly difficult stretch, it becomes harder to find things to have gratitude for.
I often end up feeling grateful for these especially hard times. You realize how a lot of things you merely take for granted during the days when you yourself have to dig deep to find something to be grateful for. In the event that you sit quietly for a minute and just observe the world around you, it doesn’t take long to appreciate that nearly everything’s a miracle.
Or, if you’re like me and you’ve a 4 year old, you obtain daily reminders of the fact everything’s a miracle. The only real answer I’ve for a lot of her constant questions lately is “it is a miracle.”
I scraped my knee and she wants to understand how your system heals itself. It is a miracle. We planted tiny little ugly brown seeds in an egg carton this spring. Just how do they grow into the beautiful flowers pictured on the seed package? It is a miracle. Why does the sun set? Miracle. Why does it snow in the spring? Miracle. Why does my 9 month old cry when I leave the space? Another miracle.
Needless to say there are complex scientific explanations for these types of things. That doesn’t make them any less of a miracle.
With huge numbers of people on earth, just how do we meet with the love of our life? Just how do we find a friend that knows just what to say at the ideal time? How are we able to go on after the death of a parent, or even worse, a child? How do your pet dog enable a blind man to call home as though he were sighted? Why does chocolate taste SO good?
Well, I possibly could go on, but hopefully you obtain the point a course in miracles. Because many people don’t obtain the point. And if you’re not “into” self improvement and personal growth, you may never stop good enough to appreciate the point. Life is really full and so challenging and so hectic, that it’s frighteningly simple to miss the fact miracles are everywhere and in everything.
It matters the method that you see the world and it matters the method that you tell the story. This is the key to self improvement without changing anything other than your perception of the world. Just open your eyes around the miracles around you.
If someone asked me how my day was, like, I possibly could respond by telling them that it was a miserably cold and rainy day, and all my kids were tired from staying up too late, and getting everyone up and dressed to take my daughter to school was a real struggle.
Or I possibly could let them know just how much fun we’d staying up late the night time before roasting marshmallows over the fire, and how my daughter sang an attractive rendition of twinkle, twinkle little star to my baby that morning to help keep him from being fussy. And I possibly could laugh about how my 2 year old ran at home in my own high heel pumps that morning as I tried to chase him down and get his shoes on him. And I possibly could share just how much fun my daughter had at school stomping in the mud puddles and finding the post-rain worms wriggling on the sidewalk. I possibly could marvel at the rainbow.
It’s around me. I can’t control my kids’moods. I can’t control the weather. But I really do control how I view the world. And how I tell the story, even if and then myself in my own head. I can view life as a struggle or as a miracle.
Why does it matter? The short answer is that area of the goal of self improvement is to be happy. And being happy only for the sake of being happy is a great thing. Nonetheless it goes deeper than that. Seeing the world as a miracle is critical to your online business success. I’ll share why in my own next article.
